Diverse and fun activities on offer
The guests of Hestakráin have the choice of diverse activities – but
also relaxation and rest.
Horse-riding along the river of Þjórsá is always a very popular activity.
Our horses are well tamed and are suitable for all. There are good hiking roads
that lead to the river of Þjórsá and a hike up the nearby mountain of Vörðufell
is always enjoyable. Vörðufell is 391 meters high. On the top of the mountain
is the lake of Úlfsvatn.
Reykjaréttir is very interesting place to see but in
the autumn all the sheep in the district are rounded up in there and the farmers
collect their sheep. Reykjaréttir was build in 1881 and is one of the most
beautiful places in Iceland where the sheep round up occurs.
A visit to the swimming pool in Brautarholt, which is 300 meters walk, is
also perfect refreshment.
Close by are two golf courses; in Flúðir and in Ásatún,
and nearby are many of the most popular nature sceneries of Iceland, such as
the waterfall of Gullfoss, Geysir, the national park Þingvellir, the highland
hot springs of Landmannalaugar and the valley of Þjórsárdalur.
